See How Oz was Before Dorothy

11th September 2015 | Category: Theater

See the Tony Award winning musical Wicked! The musical theater show is based on a 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire titled “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” which is a different view of the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz and the classic story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum. The musical is not about Dorothy, however, it is all about Glinda the good witch and the Wicked Witch of the West. The story begins before Dorothy arrives to Oz and continues after she goes home to Kansas.
Though the musical theater show, Wicked, has many references to the film and classic story, it is based mostly on the lives of the witches. The two witches have a questionable friendship due to their conflicting views and personalities, yet they still seem to bond over the views of the government and Oz himself and have a competitive edge when it comes to a certain love interest. This untold story of the witches before and after Dorothy is sure to capture all of your attention and your heart.
Wicked made it’s premiere on Broadway in October of 2003. Since then it has put on over 4,700 performances and will be celebrating it’s 12th anniversary this October. It is currently the 11th longest running Broadway show in history. Within the twelve years it has been running, it has broken many box office records around the world. The West End production and the North American tours have each been viewed by over two million people.
Do not miss the opportunity to see this musical theater show live this season. The musical is currently touring across America, even showing at the Gershwin Theater where it had originally made it’s debut almost 12 years ago. You can currently purchase tickets for Wicked at select venues, although a couple others go on sale this month and more on sale dates will be added as it gets closer to show time.
