Only Fools and Horses Musical Ready to Hit the Stage

19th February 2019 | Category: Theater

Only Fools and Horses is about to rock the entertainment world, celebrating the popular TV classic with Rodney and Del Boy.

The show perfectly captured 80s Britain and the audience laughter couldn’t be measured. A stage musical is now kicking London West End so buy your tickets in time and prepare to laugh to tears.

Based on the 1980s television series of the same name, written by John Sullivan, the upcoming stage musical has book, music and lyrics written by Paul Whitehouse and Jim Sullivan, John’s son, and additional music written by Chas Hodges and John Sullivan.

Announcing the West End musical, Paul Whitehouse explained why the musical stayed so true to the original series.

“This was the last project that John Sullivan was working on when he died – he was just starting to develop Only Fools as a musical – so when writing it, Jim and I have remained very faithful to the feel and scripts of the TV series, but also highlight some contemporary issues.”

They incorporated everyone’s favourite moments from the show into the musical and continued the legacy that was the favourite among all ages. The musical will feature the show’s original theme song as well as the show’s popular characters including Trigger, Raquel, Denzil, Mickey Pearce, Mike the Barman and the dreaded Driscoll Brothers.

The musical had its world premiere at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in London’s West End on 9 February 2019, starring Paul Whitehouse as Grandad, Tom Bennett as Del Boy and Ryan Hutton as Rodney. The official opening night is on 19 February at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and the show will run until 31 August.

Tickets for all dates can be found here.

Directed by Caroline Jay Ranger, the musical will be set in Peckham in 1989 as Del Boy sets out to find love, while Rodney and Cassandra are preparing to get married, Boycie and Marlene are giving parenthood one final shot, and Grandad takes time to take stock of his life.

Also starring in the show is Dianne Pilkington as Raquel, Pippa Duffy as Cassandra, Jeff Nicholson as Boycie, Samantha Seager as Marlene, Peter Baker as Trigger, Adrian Irvine as Denzil, Pete Gallagher and Adam Venue as the Driscoll Brothers, Chris Kiely as Mickey Pearce and Andy Mace as Mike.
