Misery Starring Bruce Willis

Misery, one of many psychological thrillers written by author Stephen King, is coming to the stage September 1, 2015. Starring Bruce Willis making his debut on Broadway, and Elizabeth Marvel star of New York theater, (“Fifty Words”, “Other Desert Cities”).
Misery, is best known for the film in 1990 starring James Caan and a performance that won her an Oscar, Kathy Bates. Bruce Willis will play the role of romantic novelist Paul Sheldon, which killed his books main character off, Misery Chastain, in hopes of reinventing himself as a novelist that is serious. Unfortunately, on his way to reinvention he falls into several detractors. The main one being Annie Wilkes, being played by Elizabeth Marvel. He has a car accident close to her home that is isolated from the world. He awakens in her house bedridden, recuperating with the help of his ‘Number One Fan’…
This play shows the relationship between a fanatic and an author, in this suspenseful tale. Paul Sheldon is faced with a battle for survival, while this former nurse becomes increasingly abusive with her insane behavior. How can he escape from this psychotic fans clutches? Will he be able to get away from her in time?
The play is adapted by Academy Award winner, William Goldman. Adaptation of Misery for the screen was done by Goldman, as well. His scripts written for “All the President’s Men” and “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” won him Academy Awards. Goldman, is also a winner of two Oscar Awards.
Misery, will be directed by Will Frears. He is also the director of the movie “Coach” and many plays on Broadway including “The Water’s Edge” and “Year Zero”. Frears staged in 2012, a world premiere at Bucks County Playhouse located in New Hope, Pa., the stage version.
Warner Bros. Theater Ventures, Castle Rock Entertainment, along with Raymond Wu will be the producers of “Misery”.
The Venue for Misery, is still to be announced for the premier showing on September 1, 2015.
