Tucker was born in Seminole, Texas and was very young at the age of 11 when she first started performing in Las Vegas in the year 1969. At the age of 13 she began to generate interest among different record labels as she released her very own version of “Delta Dawn” in the year 1972. Within the next few years she followed this with chart topping hits such as “Blood Red and Goin’ Down”, “What’s Your Mama’s Name” as well as “Would You Lay With Me.”
Tucker is just one of a very few and best known female Country music singers that is classified as an “Outlaw” in the outlaw country movement. This movement was a subgenre of the country music that was popular during the 1960’s as well as the 1970’s which spotlighted “outlaws” such as Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.
Although her three decades of performances, Tanya Tucker has remained on the top as well as credited with numerous Top 10 as well as Top 40 hits. Tanya was also named the Country Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year back in 1991, and just 2 years later Tanya was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Walkway of the Stars as well as winning the Country Music Television’s Female Video Artist of the Year.
