The Rolling Stones Announce 60th Anniversary UK and European Tour for Summer 2022

15th March 2022 | Category: Concerts

The Rolling Stones have announced details of a 60th-anniversary tour hitting the UK and Europe this summer.

Having been teasing fans for the past week, the rock legends will be heading out on the road to mark six decades as a band for the ‘SIXTY’ tour – with a new show and live production starting in Madrid on June 1 before heading to Munich, Liverpool, Amsterdam, Bern, Milan, London, Brussels, Vienna, Lyon, Paris, Gelsenkirchen and Stockholm.

Following on from their acclaimed USA ‘No Filter’ tour, ‘SIXTY’ will see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood make their long-awaited return to the UK, performing at the home of Liverpool FC – Anfield, for the Stones’ first in Liverpool show for over 50 years, followed by two shows in London’s Hyde Park for British Summer Time Festival.

“Sorry to keep you all hanging around, but the waiting is over,” said Keith Richards of the news. “I’ve always said the best place for rock and roll is on being on stage with the Stones and this year is very special. Looking forward to rehearsing with Mick and Ronnie and some friends, the wheels are in motion. See you all very soon.”

Ronnie Wood meanwhile, added: “When I look out at the sea of people when we play in Europe all I can see is smiles. It’s heart-warming and I’m glad we make people happy every time we play live. Can’t wait to get on this brand-new stage with the boys and have some fun.”

The band will be joined by drummer Steve Jordan at all shows, following the sad death of Charlie Watts last year.

The Stones have a colorful history of performing at London’s Hyde Park. Their 1969 show Stones In The Park is known one of the most famous concerts of all time – with between 250,000 and half a million in attendance. They returned just once in 2013 to open BST Hyde Park with two sold-out shows to 130,000 fans, resulting in an award-winning concert film Sweet Summer Sun: Hyde Park Live, directed by Paul Dugdale.

Other acts confirmed for headline shows BST Hyde Park include Elton John, The Eagles, Adele, Pearl Jam, and Duran Duran.

After the performance, the band’s Martin Doherty described the experience to NME as “really, really scary,” adding: “Honestly, I’ve never practiced four notes so much in my life.”

Chvrches started working on their fourth album in February 2020. Doherty and Mayberry worked on the album from Los Angeles while Cook worked on the album from Glasgow. Chvrches started teasing the lead single for their fourth album, given the working title CHV4, on 9 April 2021. On 18 April 2021, Chvrches announced “He Said She Said” as the lead single for the album and it premiered on BBC Radio 1 on 19 April 2021.

Wet Leg Unveil Details of Winter UK Tour

8th March 2022 | Category: Concerts

Wet Leg have unveiled details of a winter UK and Ireland tour.

The Isle of Wight duo, made up of Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, will kick off their series of live dates in Norwich before travelling to Bristol, Liverpool, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, London, Nottingham and Belfast. The tour will come to a close in Dublin.

Wet Leg also announced that £1 from every ticket sold on the November UK tour will go directly to War Child’s Plus One, which will help support and improve the protection and care of children and young people who live with a combination of insecurity, poverty and exclusion in some of the worst conflict-affected places.

Last month, the band shared a new track called ‘Angelica’.

The group described the song, which is about Teasdale’s oldest friend, as a mixture of “the absurd”, “the sardonic”, “social angst” and “a a trippy, synth-kissed journey through parties and regrets.”

Teasdale added: “It’s laced with disenchantment. Even though the chorus is ‘good times, all the time’. That’s just impossible, isn’t it?”

The song will feature on ‘Wet Leg’, the group’s debut album which is set for release this April, alongside previous singles ‘Chaise Longue’, ‘Wet Dream’ and ‘Oh No’.

Bauhaus Announce First US Tour in 16 Years

3rd March 2022 | Category: Concerts

Bauhaus have announced dates for their first US tour in 16 years.

In May, following an appearance at Pasadena’s Cruel World Fest, the band will play headlining shows in Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, and Tempe. They’re also set to play two shows at New York’s Kings Theatre in September.

After breaking up in 1983, Bauhaus reformed and have had a number of different formations over the years. Following a 20th anniversary tour in 1998, the band returned for a performance at Coachella in 2005 before going on to support Nine Inch Nails the following year.

Back in 2018, Murphy and J hit the road in the UK for a string of shows celebrating 40 years of Bauhaus. The December run concluded with a performance at London’s O2 Forum in Kentish Town.

Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins, and David J first reunited in late 2019, playing a three shows in Los Angeles. However, additional US dates scheduled in 2020 were canceled due to the pandemic.

Bauhaus will also join Morrissey and Blondie on the headline line-up for Cruel World festival. It will take place on May 14 and 15 this year at Brookside at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Other names on the bill include Devo, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Psychedelic Furs, Violent Femmes, Public Image Ltd and more.

Following their 1980 debut record ‘In The Flat Field’, Bauhaus released a further four studio albums – ‘Mask’ (1981), ‘The Sky’s Gone Out’ (1982), ‘Burning From The Inside’ (1983) and ‘Go Away White’ (2008).

Speaking to NME upon the release of their latest effort, David J said that the band’s “chemistry was so volatile” during its recording that they decided to go their separate ways once again. “The record definitely feels like a final statement,” he explained.

Tickets for upcoming Bauhaus shows can be found here.
