The Black Keys – El Camino 2012 Tour

News In Concerts

I think The Black Keys is the most underrated band ever but definitely one of the best. Truth be told, I hadn’t know them until I played a bit of FIFA and heard their song Tighten Up from the Brothers (2010) album and immediately searched for it in YouTube. The music video is very entertaining and creative, I love the humor too. That first time I heard and watched The Black Keys, I definitely wanted them and listened more to their songs. And now I’m very happy that they’re going on a tour so I can finally watch them live instead of drooling in front of my computer. The Black Keys will be touring more than a dozen states in the US, Canada, England and Germany starting January 27, 2012 to April 24, 2012. Some of the venues they will be performing independently while majority of their performances will be in collaboration with Arctic Monkeys, a fellow indie band but from England while The Black Keys are from Akron, Ohio.

The Black Keys is composed of two talented men, Dan Auerbach, the vocalist and guitarist and Patrick Carney, the drummer and producer. They started recording their first album in 2001 in the Carney’s basement on an 8-track tape recorder from the 1980’s. Their second album was also recorded in the same basement and took 14 hours to record. They have seven albums all in all, the latest being El Camino. Many publications like the Rolling Stone and Time considered their current album one of the best albums of the year. At the beginning of their North American tour, Madison Square Garden sold out in only 15 minutes.

The songs of The Black Keys have found their way in many productions, TV and movies alike, as well as Video Games as I mentioned earlier and product commercials. Among these are the films School of Rock, Zombieland and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. And some of the product commercials are Sony Ericson and Victoria’s Secret.

The Black Keys experienced how hard it is to be an independent band, to not have a producer and all so during the 9th annual Independent Music Awards, they helped in judging to support the careers of independent artists. Despite the hardships they faced in the beginning, everything was worth it when they have reached over 2 million albums sold as of October 2011. They received numerous awards for their songs including Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for Tighten Up, Best Alternative Music Album for Brothers and Best Recording Package for Brothers.

If you want to experience the same magic and elated feeling of listening to this proudly American blues rock band, make sure to purchase The Black Keys tickets early because it is sure that tickets will be going fast. There are many sources to buy cheap discount tickets so don’t hesitate to get them now. The Black Keys will only be touring a few places, so catch them when you can!
