Rapper Lil’ Wayne (real name: Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.) dominated the BET Hip-Hop Awards Saturday night. The 26-year-old rapper from New Orleans had been nominated for 12 awards and managed to take home three: the Lyricist of the year Award, the MVP of the Year Award and the People’s Champ Award.
But despite the fact that Wayne is a brilliant rapper and soon to be a father again (while on stage at the BET Hip-Hop awards, he announced that he is having his first baby boy any day now), he doesn’t seem to know how to stay out of trouble. Just last year he was arrested in Atlanta for possession of marijuana and prescription medication, and right now he is on trail for gun possession.
Wayne has pleaded not guilty to illegal gun possession and remains free on $70,000 bond, but if convicted he could face up to three and a half years behind bars. So if you really want to see him perform LIVE anytime soon, it might be a good idea to do it now!
