American Idols Live on tour 2012

Reality television has slowly changed over the past decade to cater more to educated audiences and create more of a resonance with the people who watch their shows. Gone are the days of nonsensical young adult misfits in a house scenario that sees them get up to more bad than good. No, these days the average person is more intelligent than their predecessor, yearning for something more substantial. One such theme that comes to mind is Talent. Television today is providing more of individual talents and showcasing the best and the brightest for all to see. It is proving that we are more than just people but rather we are artists, creators of mystery, entertainers; people who can make an impact and push the human potential to the limit. One such show that has consistently exemplified this is American Idol, through the power of song.

Created by Simon Fuller (though notorious for involving controversial Simon Cowell, manager and music executive), the show is currently in its eleventh season, beginning in 2002 under shaky beginnings. It’s original birth was marred by dislike from the general American public, however thanks to persistence and nudge of Rupert Murdoch’s daughter, the show adapted a slight change before being re-aired in 2002 to become a summer hit and one of the biggest talent shows to hit the stage in history.

Singers participate to wow the public who watches via their television, as well as in front of a celebrity panel who also rate their performances. The show has seen judge appearances from Kara DioGuardi, Paula Abdul, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, to name a few of the well-known names that have put the time and effort in to support the show as best as they see fit; by judging.

Every year, the performers battle it out in the hopes of reaching the final and earning themselves a record contract to turn the dream of singing into a reality of stardom. As with all competitions, the numbers slowly deplete until there are but a few strong survivors remaining. Once that number hits ten, they bring about the nationwide tour. This year will see top 10 competitors for this season travel around the United States and also Canada during the months of July, August and September in an absolutely overloaded affair. The numerous cities they will be visiting will not only spread the entertainment of American Idol’s best to offer but also help the singers to gain experience and connections with their adoring fans.
