If you haven’t experienced a documentary-styled musical, now is the time to experience it by attending the Jersey Boys jukebox musical. Created with the music of Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe, Jersey Boys has grown from books to a worldwide hit. This musical is based on one of the most successful 1960s rock n’ roll groups, the Four Seasons.

Jersey Boys first opened on Broadway in 2005 and has since had a North American National Tour along with tours in different cities all over the world. To date, Jersey Boys has production in Las Vegas, London, Auckland, Brisbane, Adelaide, Toronto, and many more. The story of Jersey Boys dramatizes the lives of the members of the Four Seasons; the forming of the group, the rise and the eventual break-up of the four original members. The musical is separated into four seasons, each narrated by each of the four members of the band. Act 1 comprises Spring (Tommy DeVito) & Summer (Bob Gaudio); Act 2 comprises Fall (Nick Massi) & Winter (Frankie Valli); each member has a different perspective on the band and his contribution to it.

After the four seasons comes the finale which is the induction of The Four Seasons to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. With Bob Crewe’s announcement, the original four members of the Four Seasons reunited on state one last time singing “Rag Doll”. Each member takes a moment to address the audience one by one, explaining their pride of being with the band and what they did after.

Jersey Boys are often performed for charity. They appeared in several performances as guest acts for charity such as in the Royal Variety Performance 2008, Children in Need 2009, Broadway Cares Events 2008, and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. The musical has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to give away to charity.

They are definitely a big hit composed only of four talented men and a small orchestra with about nine musicians. Despite this, they have a big heart and a big special performance every night. They have never let their fans down; just consider their success after being only in the Broadway for less than a decade.

The musical has won several awards including several Tony Awards, Drama Desk Awards, and one Grammy Award. Definitely watch out for Jersey Boys coming in your town this year.
