American Idiot: From Single to Album to Book to Musical

Based on one of the hits of the band, this musical will come to theaters in the coming months to bring to you songs from the band inculcated with the contemporary situation in America. The album by Green Day with the same name tackles a new direction given the same themes that an average American sees everyday but refuses to acknowledge unless provoked to.
The book with the same title was done by Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong and director Michael Meyer. You can expect unreleased tracks in the musical like When It’s Time. Band mates Mike Dimt and Tre Cool also contributed to the lyrics.
The lead actor in the musical play is named Johnny, who explores his freedom and gets tangled together with his friend who is coping with supporting a pregnant girlfriend. As expected from a story that has been expanded from the central theme of the album with the same name, American Idiot is a story that revolves around the untold stories behind the high walls of societal limitations. This is a story that common people can relate to without difficulty and enlightens the rich and famous to be more sensitive about their surroundings.
Although the band is not included in the musical, there is a pseudo-band who portrays their roles on the musical set. The story was first ran at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2009 and then moved on to Broadway with its pilot previews at the St. James Theatre on March 24, 2010. Later after that, on April 20, 2010, the shows officially started.
