King of Leon Turns Down Glee
The musical-styled television show, Glee, has been a big hit. It has been so huge, in fact, that singers are scrambling to make an appearance on it or at least have their music featured on the show. Britney Spears is the latest pop star to come abroad and even legendary Paul McCartney asked the show’s producers if he could collaborate with them. They gladly agreed. Well, it seems that not everyone is thrilled about the idea of working with Glee. One group turned down the mega popular televisions program. They are the Kings of Leon. The Kings of Leon said no to the show’s request to use their music.
The well known rock n’ roll group from Tennessee, in an interview with NME in England, stated that the group turns down a lot of things and that they had never watched Glee, though Jared Folowill (bassist) acknowledged that “apparently everybody loves it”
“We could have sold out so much more. We turn stuff down constantly,” frontman Caleb Followill added. “We had some people call us up wanting to know if we’d allow ‘Use Somebody’ to appear in the trailer for their next movie, and we turned them down. Next day, they called back and tried to put us through to the star of the movie—I won’t name names, but he’s an incredibly famous actor—to let him try and convince us to agree to do it.“I was like, ‘Man, don’t even waste your energy’
The group has made one exception as it concerns working with commercial projects. They did allow the television show, Gossip Girl to use a few tracks from their record, Only by The Night,, which was released in 2008. The three songs were Use Somebody, Sex on Fire and Closer.
The band will soon be starting a tour. Their first date is scheduled for September. The group will perform at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. If you’re looking for reasonably priced tickets, we can help!
