Ed Sheeran North American Tour Approaches $300M Mark

1st October 2018 | Category: Concerts

Ed Sheeran is currently hitting the U.S stadiums as a part of his Divide Tour and we can freely say he is killing it.

According to Hot Tours recap, he is approaching the $300 million mark pretty fast and furious. If you still hadn’t had the chance to enjoy his compelling music, you can purchase tickets for the upcoming dates right here.

Sheeran has grossed $290.1 million and sold 3.3 million tickets across 149 dates and the tour is not over yet. There are still 39 dates remaining until his world tour Divide ends so we’ll have to wait and see what the final number will be.

According to the Hot Tours recap announced on 29 September, he took a leap forward comparing to the shows held last year on the same venues. Recently, he held a two-night show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New York. Two shows held on 21 and 2 September sold 107,550 tickets and generated $11.2 million. This is tree time the gross from the three-night gross at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center held last year between 29 September and 1 October. Last year, he performed in front of 41,006 fans and grossed $3.7 million. And that’s not all.

Similarly, Sheeran grossed $2.6 million from selling 30,516 tickets across two shows at Air Canada Centre in Toronto in July 2017 while this August, he sold out 98,462 tickets and grossed $8.5 million from two nights at Rogers Centre. The trajectory in other markets continued in September as well. Two shows at Gillette Stadium quadrupled his intake to $9.8 million from 110,238 tickets sold compared to the last year’s $2.3 million and 25,590 tickets sold for Boston’s TD Garden.

The North American leg success follows his success at European and Australian stadiums. During his four shows at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium between 9 and 12 March 2018, he delivered his career-best gross, selling 156,622 tickets that earned $20.9 million.

Don’t waste any time and buy your tickets right now, just choose the city nearest to you from the remaining 39 dates. Divide tour has started in Italy on 16 March 2017 in support of his third studio album and has travelled around the world and back since then. Enjoy smashing hits like “Perfect”, “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape of You” by this award-winning artist that sold more than 26 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide.

Parenthetically, according to Hot Tours, Beyoncé and Jay Z tour grossed $51 million, Journey and Def Leppard $24.4 million and Iron Maiden $20.4 last month.
