Aeorsmith and J. Geils Band at Fenway Park

News In Concerts

Fenway Park has only had a few entertainers set up concerts in Boston’s historic ballpark. Starting in 2003, Fenway Park began hosting a variety of summer concerts each year. A few that have graced the Park include Jimmy Buffet, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews Bands, The Rolling Stones, Phish, Neil Diamond, The Police and Paul McCartney.

After August 14, there will be two more added to this list and of course, that will be Aerosmith and J. Geils Band. Steven Tyler appeared at Fenway Park to perform God Bless America for the seventh inning on opening night for Major League Baseball on April 4. On April 7th during the Yankees and Red Sox game, Tyler and Peter Wolf announced their Boston based bands Aerosmith and J. Geils Band will perform a late summer concert at Fenway Park on August 14.

The J. Geils Band will perform the opening set starting at 6pm while the Park will open the gate at 5pm for fans that have tickets.

Tickets will go on sale this week for the concert, which is believed, will turn out to be a sold out performance with most tickets gone shortly after making them available.

Rumors have been flying the past few months as well as several publications regarding problems between members of Aerosmith, which has made this announcement an astonishing one to many fans. The rumor was Aerosmith members broke up the band or at least they were in need of a replacement for Tyler. Near the end of February, the group said they had made amends and at that time announced their Cocked, Locked and Ready to Rock Tour in Europe.

J. Geils Band was looking a rocky path as well with touring up in the air with a tour in most cases doubtful. Wolf stated that the January 23 benefit concert would be their last live show.

Looks like quite a bit has changed and this is truly a good thing for fans that will certainly be lining up to get tickets for the summer concert on April 14.
