Orville Peck Delays The Release of ‘Show Pony’ EP In Support of BLM Movement

18th June 2020 | Category: Concerts

Artist/songwriter Orville Peck has postponed the release of his upcoming ‘Show Pony’ EP which was due to be released on June 12. The reason was to keep the focus on the Black Lives Matter movement.

“We’re undergoing a huge overdue worldwide transformation thanks to the Black Lives Matter movement and that is mainly what I want to put my focus on at the moment,” he wrote on his Instagram.

“The momentum is currently so strong, and it needs to keep going in order to dismantle the injustices of oppression, so if your voice hasn’t been heard yet just use it, or walk out and hear the protesters, and if you’re scared, tell them Orville sent you!

The masked musician also revealed he had raised “close to $37,000” to support the black community.

Last week, thanks to the help of some lovely people we raised close to $37k, and this week I’ll be performing a little surprise from the EP at @wynwoodpride where we’re hoping to raise $100k. Lots of great performers, so if you guys like what you see, remember to tip- and y’all, even if you can’t tip, watching to actively educate yourself is also a win for everyone. Love you all for being kind people and I can’t wait for you to hear the album – but lets use this month to get our shit in order because this is only the start of the marathon for equality.”

Orville Peck’s new EP will feature six songs, including a Shania Twain duet and a Bobbie Gentry cover.

Peck released its first track, “Summertime,” on April 1, and has also its second track, “No Glory in the West,” on May 29, as well.

The self-produced six-track EP is an evolution of Peck’s debut album Pony, about which the musician said the following

“I loved my experience with [my debut album], Pony. However, Show Pony is a more confident perspective and allows me to share even more both lyrically and musically.

Like all country albums, Show Pony is a little collection of stories — some sad, some happy — and I am excited for people to hear it.”

In the meantime, you will be able to get tickets for the upcoming Orville Peck shows here.
