My Chemical Romance Adds New Dates after Selling Out Tour in 6 Hours

4th February 2020 | Category: Concerts

It was last year that My Chemical Romance overjoyed their fans when they announced a reunion show, which would be their first in 7 years.

The gig, which took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on December 20th, broke records for the venue as it grossed nearly $1.5 million.

The emo legends have announced North American tour dates on January 29th, after they’ve posted a 13-minute short film called “A Summoning”, in which a protagonist attempts a ritual to summon the band back together.

The tour kicks off in September 2020 with a show in Detroit Michigan.

From there, MCR will head to St Paul, then Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Newark and more. In addition, they’ll headline three fall music festivals in Chicago’s Riot Fest, Atlanta’s Music Midtown, and Sacramento’s Aftershock.

Their arena tour throughout North America sold out in six hours with 228,600 tickets sold, so the band added several new dates to the tour, including one in New Jersey and many in California.

Prior to the North American leg, MCR will play shows in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Russia.

The band revived their blog, with a message from the frontman Gerard Way.

“Gearing up to head to Japan – it has always been a magical place for me,” Way wrote. “Every time I am there, I learn something about the culture and something about myself. I come back home feeling fresh, with a new perspective. The crowds are as spectacular as the beauty of the country.”

My Chemical Romance released their debut album in 2002, and soon after found commercial success with their later albums. Some of their hit songs are “I’m Not Okay (I Promise),” “Welcome to The Black Parade” and “Helena.”
