Metallica To Double-Headline 2020 Epicenter Festival

28th November 2019 | Category: Concerts

The legendary heavy metal band Metallica has just been confirmed as Epicenter headliner. The festival will take place on May 1-3, the following year.

Metallica will headline the Friday and Sunday night events, and they will be playing two completely different sets. Multi-platinum band Disturbed will take the Saturday headline slot, on May 2nd.

On the event, the organizer said: “Metallica isn’t just another headliner. When Metallica takes the stage, it’s an event. It’s an experience…

“I can’t wait to bring the biggest band in the world to the biggest rock festivals in America. Metallica paved this road that we travel. How many artists on the bill at these five festivals first picked up an instrument, or first started a band, because of Metallica?”

Lynyrd Skynyrd, who are currently on their farewell tour, will also play at the festival. The festival will also feature performances by Godsmack, Papa Roach, David Lee Roth, Royal Blood, I Prevail, Deftones, Staind, Gojira, Chevelle, Cypress Hill, Anthrax, Rancid and many more.

Two months ago Metallica announced that their Australia and New Zealand tour dates had been cancelled so that the frontman James Hetfield could re-enter a recovery program to deal with his “struggles with addiction”. Since the cancellation of the Australian and New Zealand shows, the band has announced many 2020 dates.

The band has a South American tour with Greta Van Fleet that kicks off in April. The South American tour is followed by many U.S. performances. One of these is Epicenter, but they are also playing four other festivals in the US in 2020. These festivals are Welcome To Rockville, Sonic Temple Music + Arts, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock. And they will be performing two nights at each festival, with different setlists.
