British Grammy winner Elton John, started Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in September 2018, stating it will be his last one. He felt like it was the right time to stop performing after almost 50 years on and off the road:

“It’s time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life.”

His intention was to focus more on family life with his husband, David Furnish and their two sons:

“After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children.”

The first 60 shows of Elton John’s farewell tour sold out almost immediately. The North American leg and his first three weeks in Europe made him the top-grossing artist of the year. The end of the first leg of the tour on 18 March 2019, had grossed over $125 million and he also received a Billboard Music Award in the category Top Rock Tour.

Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will last three years and consist of more than 300 shows that his fans will be able to see across five continents. The tour will end in 2021, after reaching North America, Europe and the Middle East, Asia, South America and Australasia.

Currently, John is in the midst of the tour’s second North American leg and four more shows have been added to the tour. In addition to performing at the previously announced tour stops, he will also be bringing his retirement tour to New York and New Jersey.
