{"id":32043,"date":"2021-10-19T02:04:28","date_gmt":"2021-10-19T09:04:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/news\/?p=32043"},"modified":"2021-10-18T02:10:56","modified_gmt":"2021-10-18T09:10:56","slug":"coldplay-announce-details-of-their-eco-friendly-2022-world-stadium-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/news\/concerts\/coldplay-announce-details-of-their-eco-friendly-2022-world-stadium-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Coldplay Announce Details of Their Eco-Friendly 2022 World Stadium Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Coldplay X BTS - My Universe (Official Video)\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3YqPKLZF_WU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/coldplay-tickets\">Coldplay<\/a> have announced details of their 2022 world stadium tour, with an emphasis on environmental sustainability.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Back in 2019 the band announced that they were taking time to consider how they would tour in the future in order to make it as environmentally friendly as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coldplay\u2019s new tour dates come right after the band\u2019s new album release &#8211; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Music Of The Spheres <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and the second single, &#8220;My Universe&#8221; featuring South Korean pop group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/bts-bangtan-boys-tickets\">BTS<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0 The band will be supported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/h-e-r-tickets\">H.E.R<\/a>. and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/london-grammar-tickets\">London Grammar<\/a>, starting in March in Costa Rica.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">North American dates will then take place across May and June, before the band head to Europe in July. A UK run of shows closes the tour, including three dates at London\u2019s Wembley Stadium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Discussing the idea behind the tour, the band said in a statement:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPlaying live and finding connection with people is ultimately why we exist as a band. We\u2019ve been planning this tour for years, and we\u2019re super excited to play songs from across our whole time together.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At the same time, we\u2019re very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis. So we\u2019ve spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour\u2019s potential to push things forward.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe won\u2019t get everything right, but we\u2019re committed to doing everything we can and sharing what we learn. It\u2019s a work in progress and we\u2019re really grateful for the help we\u2019ve had so far. If you\u2019d like to come to a show and sing with us, we\u2019re so excited to see you.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Integral to the tour are its eco-friendly measures, which have been set out on a new \u2018sustainability\u2019 section of Coldplay\u2019s official website.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The measures include cutting direct emissions by 50 percent compared to the band\u2019s last tour in 2016 and 2017, using 100 percent renewable energy, and having solar installations at every venue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fans who travel to the shows by public transport will be rewarded with discounts, while the band are donating 10 percent of all of the tour\u2019s earnings to climate change organizations.
