{"id":32039,"date":"2021-10-06T02:04:27","date_gmt":"2021-10-06T09:04:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/news\/?p=32039"},"modified":"2021-09-30T02:07:59","modified_gmt":"2021-09-30T09:07:59","slug":"billy-idol-announces-uk-arena-tour-with-the-go-gos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/news\/concerts\/billy-idol-announces-uk-arena-tour-with-the-go-gos\/","title":{"rendered":"Billy Idol Announces UK Arena Tour with The Go-Go\u2019s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Billy Idol - Bitter Taste (Official Music Video)\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AFj0qmBMBa4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/billy-idol-tickets\">Billy Idol<\/a> has announced details of his UK arena tour next summer and confirmed that The Go-Go\u2019s will support him on all of the dates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Idol\u2019s \u2018Roadside Tour 2022\u2019 will feature <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cnew music, a stack of timeless classics and his long-time lead guitarist and collaborator Steve Stevens\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, according to a press release.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The tour, which will mark Idol\u2019s first UK dates since 2018, includes six arena shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London, Cardiff and Leeds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI can\u2019t wait to get back on the road in the UK again,\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Idol said in a statement.<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cAnd enjoy that exhilaration and energy that only comes from playing in front of a live British audience.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Go-Go\u2019s will serve as the main support act on all six dates, with the band saying of their booking:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are thrilled to be sharing the stage with Billy Idol on his 2022 summer UK tour dates.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe haven\u2019t had an opportunity to play for our British fans in 26 years and can\u2019t wait to see you all.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Idol recently released his latest EP \u2018The Roadside\u2019. Speaking about the record, Idol reflected on his near-fatal motorcycle accident in 1990, how he dealt with it and how it relates to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt seemed quite logical and natural to write something about my motorcycle accident,\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> he said about the EP. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI may have been saying, \u2018Well, this is what people go through when they are in trouble\u2019. I think I was unconsciously making that connection.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cCertainly, the motorcycle accident was the catharsis, the wake-up moment. Maybe I left behind the irreverent, youthful Billy and opened the door for a more attentive father and more sensitive musician.
