They are happening at the same venue as the first pair, Oklahoma City&#8217;s The Criterion. According to a press release, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201clocal health and safety standards will be strictly observed for this full-production live Lips event.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The first announcement was followed with this:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDue to overwhelming demand, two more Space Bubble Concerts have been added for March 11th and 14th at Criterion OKC in Oklahoma City, OK, USA!\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Flaming Lips have long performed in a space bubble during concerts. Prior to the live debut of their COVID-safe set-up, they showed their bubbled audience technique during a performance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and in videos for \u201cBrother Eye\u201d and \u201cAssassins of Youth\u201d from their 2020 album \u201cAmerican Head\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the frontman Wayne Coyne the concerts are <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201csafer than going to the grocery store.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> At every show, there are 100 bubbles, each capable of holding a maximum of three people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The capsules are equipped with a speaker, fan, bottle of water, towel, and a sign reading<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cI gotta go pee\/It\u2019s hot in here\u201d <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to be shown to stewards, who escorted attendees or refilled the bubbles with cool air.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe collect everybody and then we take them row by row to their bubbles,\u201d <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coyne told Rolling Stone. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOnce you\u2019re in the bubble you can do whatever the f\u2013k you want, and that\u2019s the beauty of it. That\u2019s what we spent most of the time figuring out.
