He posted a photo of himself with the logo of the halftime show on social media to announce the news.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;We all grow up watching the world&#8217;s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position,&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the singer said in a statement. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;I&#8217;m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Jay-Z, founder of Roc Nation said the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;The Weeknd has introduced a sound all his own. His soulful uniqueness has defined a new generation of greatness in music and artistry. This is an extraordinary moment in time and the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show is going to be an extraordinary experience with an extraordinary performer.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Roc Nation and Emmy-nominated producer Jesse Collins will serve as co-executive producers of the halftime show. The game and halftime show will air live on CBS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It&#8217;s the second year of collaboration between the NFL, Pepsi, and Roc Nation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;We are thrilled to have The Weeknd join us in Tampa Bay on the Pepsi Halftime Stage,&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> said Brian Rolapp, the NFL&#8217;s chief media and business officer. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;Halftime show performances have a history of excellence and creativity and we look forward to seeing what he will bring to Super Bowl LV.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Weeknd, whose real name is, Abel Tesfaye, joins a list of celebrated musicians who have played during Super Bowl halftime shows. This includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/madonna-tickets\">Madonna<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/beyonce-tickets\">Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/coldplay-tickets\">Coldplay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/katy-perry-tickets\">Katy Perry<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/u2-tickets\">U2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/red-hot-chili-peppers-tickets\">Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/lady-gaga-tickets\">Lady Gaga<\/a>, Michael Jackson, and last year&#8217;s duo of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/shakira-tickets\">Shakira<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/jennifer-lopez-tickets\">Jennifer Lopez<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Weeknd was announced as a headliner of the 2021 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show.
