{"id":31584,"date":"2020-04-24T01:36:27","date_gmt":"2020-04-24T08:36:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/news\/?p=31584"},"modified":"2020-04-24T01:36:27","modified_gmt":"2020-04-24T08:36:27","slug":"foals-cancel-north-american-tour-and-reveal-new-uk-dates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/news\/concerts\/foals-cancel-north-american-tour-and-reveal-new-uk-dates\/","title":{"rendered":"Foals Cancel North American Tour and Reveal New UK Dates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FOALS - The Runner [Official Music Video]\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/h8xZje1jbI0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/foals-tickets\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Foals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> were due to go out on a co-headlining North American tour with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketcenter.com\/local-natives-tickets\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Local Natives<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> this May and June, but they\u2019ve now scrapped it due to COVID-19.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The two bands have issued this collective statement about the canceled tour:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDue to the uncertainties around COVID-19, our upcoming US and Canadian tour together has been canceled &#8211; tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We were going to release these remixes we did for each other when the tour kicked off.\u00a0 We are heartbroken that we can&#8217;t be together this summer to play for you.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a thank-you to disappointed fans, the two bands have made remixes of one another\u2019s songs and made them available as free downloads. Local Natives have remixed Foals\u2019 \u201cNeptune\u201d and Foals have remixed Local Natives\u2019 \u201cDark Days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis recently chatted with NME about his disappointment about postponing shows.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;This has just hammered home how much we need the shows to feel a sense of completion with the record. It\u2019s like throwing a pebble into the lake and not seeing a ripple,&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;We wanted to reschedule rather than cancel so we\u2019d feel like we completed something. We need to know that connection with the audience is coming, or it just adds to this weird solipsism that is the lockdown.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Oxford group has also announced their rescheduled UK tour dates for 2021. All original tickets will remain valid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New dates are for Edinburgh, London, Blackpool and Birmingham have been confirmed, while dates in Cardiff and Manchester will be added soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here\u2019s what they said about the rescheduled shows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe upcoming UK tour has been rescheduled to April &amp; May 2021.
