The official statement said that 2020 would be\u00a0<\/span><em><span>\u201can enforced fallow year\u201d.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span>\u201cClearly this was not a course of action we hoped to take for our 50th anniversary event, but following the new government measures announced this week \u2013 and in times of such unprecedented uncertainty \u2013 this is now our only viable option,\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span>the organizers said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Even though they hoped the situation in the UK would have improved by the end of June, it isn\u2019t possible to spend the next three months with thousands of crew on the farm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>\u201cWe were so looking forward to welcoming you all for our 50th anniversary with a lineup full of fantastic artists and performers that we were incredibly proud to have booked.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span>\u00a0Again, we\u2019re so sorry that this decision has been made. It was not through choice,\u201d<\/span><\/em><span>\u00a0they said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As for the tickets that have been bought for this year, they will roll over to next year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>\u201cTicket-holders will have the chance to roll their \u00a350 deposit over to next year and guarantee the opportunity to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2021, while those who want a refund can apply for one.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span>Further information on coach packages, official accommodation bookings and other tickets will be added to the festival\u2019s website in the next few days.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>Glastonbury Festival has become the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Since its humble beginnings as a gathering of 1,500 people in September 1970, it has developed into an event with more than 200,000 attendees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>This year was supposed to be its 50th anniversary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Glastonbury isn\u2019t the only festival that\u2019s been canceled or rescheduled as a result of the Covid-19 virus outbreak. So far, other major festivals also had to close its gates, for now.
