One of the most popular Disney movies is now a Broadway musical, and it is currently touring around the United States. Featuring the academy award winning soundtrack with music by Alan Menken and lyrics written by the late Howard Ashman, the show also features additional songs by Alan Menken with lyrics written by Tim Rice.

Beauty and The Beast is an international hit, with over 35 million viewers in 13 different countries. The Disney movie is loosely based on a fairy tale written by French novelist Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont that was published in 1756. In the 1991 hit movie made by Disney, Belle, a bookworm who lives in a dull town, sets out to find her father after his horse, Phillipe, turns up back at their cottage without him. Phillipe leads Belle to a castle where the Beast, a young prince trapped inside of a beastly body due to an enchantresses spell, resides. After trading places with her father, the Beast is pushed to accept the woman that is before him and be nice to her before his time is up. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved before the last rose petal wilts and falls off the rose, the spell will be lifted and he will be a young prince again at last. However, if the Beast can not change his cruel ways, all of his household and himself will be stuck in the curse for the rest of eternity.

The original creators of the Broadway show are reunited for this tour of Beauty and The Beast. The show is directed by Rob Roth and choreographed by Matt West. With Tony Award winning costume designer, Ann Hould-Ward, who won the award for her work in Beauty and The Beast. Music supervision by Michael Kosarin, sound design by John Petrafesa Jr., lighting design by Natasha Katz, and last but not least, scenic design by Stanley A. Meyer.

The show may be coming to a venue near you! Beauty and The Beast on Broadway is currently touring around the United States, and has many stops left on it’s run. The last shows are scheduled to be in Orlando, Florida for May 12-May 17, 2015.
