Chris Evans Set for a Broadway Debut With Lobby Hero

26th February 2018 | Category: Theater

If you are a fan of Captain America, don’t miss Chris Evans’s debut on Broadway as Lobby Hero is coming on March 1.

It will be the first show both for Second Stage Theatre’s inaugural Broadway season and the opening of New York’s city newly renovated Hayes Theater. Performances of the play begin on 1 March with an opening night scheduled for 26 March. Don’t miss our favorite action hero on the stage for the first time.

Chris Evans, 36, debuts in this play by an Oscar-winning screenwriter and playwright Kenneth Lonergan. Alongside Michael Cera, Bel Powley and Brian Tyree Henry, Chris will portray what happens when emotions come in conflict with principles and how choices under pressure define who we really are.

Directed by Trip Cullman, Lobby Hero follows a security guard, his strict supervisor, a rookie cop and her overbearing partner. The setting is in the foyer of Manhattan building in the middle of the night and a murder investigation underway. You will be completely absorbed in the actors’ performance, witnessing what happens when personal and professional people find themselves at odds.

The play first premiered Off-Broadway in 2001 at Playwrights Horizons, with Tate Donovan and Heather Burns as lead roles. This revival was announced last year and we simply can’t wait to see it.

Tickets for all dates can be purchased here.

Second Stage also announced that its first Broadway season will follow with Straight White Men, opening in July 2018, directed by Anna D. Shapiro. This will mark the first time a play written by an Asian woman has been produced on Broadway.  Torch Song, Mary Page Marlowe and other contemporary works are scheduled for June 2018. The ambitious commissioning program emphasizes Second Stage’s mission to make the intimate Hayes Theatre, a 104-year-old building newly renovated, a permanent home on Broadway for American plays.
