UCLA Bruins Vs. Stanford Cardinals

14th October 2015 | Category: Sports

Jim Mora the UCLA Bruins coach has too often found Stanford Cardinals standing in the way of UCLA’s goals, this is due to the Bruins have not been yet been able to stand in the way of Stanford’s power rushing attack.

The Cardinals have defeated the Bruins at the 2012 Pac-12 championship game, as UCLA was on the verge of winning this last season until Stanford delivered a 31-10 upset in the season’s finale.  The main common factor in each of UCLA’s four losses to the Cardinal’s has ultimately been their inability to stop the run, that allows for 192 yards rushing.

Jim Mora believes that 18th ranked Bruins will be up for the challenge Thursday night even though the Number 15 Cardinals is once again running the ball with such precision and physicality, even in spite of the rash of recent injuries that have happened.

Moro stated that within the two practices that they had last week he thought that they were good, and then Sunday they were on it again.  He had to rearrange the puzzle just a bit with some of the guys going down and other guys switching positions.

Mossi Johnson became the 4th Bruin defender that was lost in the season due to an injury that tore three ligaments in one of the practices last week.  Johnson was moved to safety from receiver as the secondary was reconfigured after Fabian Moreau suffered from a serious injury.

Without UCLA’s top players at each level of their defense available, Arizona rushed 353 yards and they had 192 yards on the ground.  UCLA’s coach stated that overall he was pleased with how the run defense was actually performed, but stated that they buckled to late.
