Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Extend 2022 Tour

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have added a West Coast leg to their 2022 international tour in support of their latest covers album, Raise the Roof.

The new string of dates kicks off on August 15th at The Rady Shell in San Diego. It will make stops at venues like the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, and Greek Theatre in Los Angeles before closing out at Austin’s Moody Amphitheater on September 4th.

Raise the Roof served as the follow-up to their 2007 blockbuster covers album, Raising Sand, and is filled with covers of classic blues, country, folk, and soul music originally sung by the likes of Merle Haggard and The Everly Brothers.

When it first came out, Plant said this about the album:

“I just hope people hear it. These days you find out that people you know very well have made records that you didn’t know about. The game has changed so much. But,” he concludes more brightly, “I’m sure that if they hear this, they’ll realize that there’s people still alive in it, that we’re still alive inside the vinyl, chirping away like a couple of little bluebirds.”

The last time Plant and Krauss toured together was in 2009, following their first collaboration, the Grammy-winning Raising Sand. The very long-awaited follow-up to that album, Raise the Roof, also produced by T Bone Burnett, came out in November.

The musicians who will take part in the tour have not yet been announced. Burnett toured as part of the band in the late 2000s, but it’s not known whether he might take up those duties again for this resumption.
