Guns N’ Roses: No Riot Act Repeated in St. Louis

31st July 2017 | Category: Concerts

Great news for all Guns N’ Roses fans!

The “Not in this Lifetime…” tour has been without any incidents to date. You still have time until November 29, 2017 to just pick a date and buy a ticket for it.

After 26 years of promising never to return to St. Louis again, Guns N’ Roses was back as a part of their ongoing tour but this time without making any trouble. In 1991, Axl Rose went down in rock history in one of the most infamous moments that happened onstage. In the middle of his performance of “Rocket Queen”, Axl abruptly stopped the show because a fan was taking pictures without permission.

Since the security did nothing to stop the individual, Axl Rose decided to jump in the crowd and take the camera himself. After returning to the stage, frustrated both with the photographer and the security, he ended the show and stormed outside. His impetuous decision led to a violent and bloody riot today known as the “Riverport Riot”. The riot resulted in dozens of arrests, 65 injured and over $200.000 property damage. Axl Rose himself was charged with four misdemeanour counts of assaults and fined $50.000. He and his band also faced numerous civil suits following the incident.

On July 27 2017, the band returned to St. Louis after a generation has passed and both the band and the city got beyond the matter. All members of the band dished some T-shirt diplomacy, wearing shirt with logos from local businesses, which may have gone over the heads of many in the audience.

“The last time we were here was half of my life ago… Half of my freaking life ago. It’s good to see you again.” said Axl and let the music do all the talking without direct addressing to the incident.

He really seemed to mean it, leading the nation’s top touring show with a marathon of 31 hits that audience enjoyed immensely. The “truce” was made and before walking out, not storming off, Axl Said “We hope to see you soon. Hopefully a lot sooner.”

The “Not in This Lifetime…” tour spanned over all continents with 130 shows scheduled. The tour kicked off on April 1, 2016 in Las Vegas and is scheduled to end on November 29, 2017 in Los Angeles. It was the highest earning per-show concert tour in 2016 and the fourth highest grossing last year. The tour is a financial success and has scooped $340 million so far. Don’t miss the chance to see Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan perform together the first time since the 1993 tour.
